The amazing story of how the village was originally created. A lot of stories behind each wall. The beauty landscape of this place is amazing. Inspiring notes on the wall to funny scripts. The staircase and the small alleys around the village adds more beauty. Overall, this place is amazing and awesome.

Colourful little village! So many nooks and crannies and little hidden alleyways to walk through. There’s an abundance of cafes with rooftops to take photos on, heaps of free photo spaces with props and souvenir shops. Can easily spend 2-3 hours walking around. We walked all the way to the bottom and caught the bus back to the top. Signs and directions are everywhere.

Lovely historic village. Lots of colour, little streets to explore. Winds up and down from one side of the hill to the other. Interesting piece of history. Lots of places to take pictures with le Petit price statues, or BTS murals. Nice day trip overall. We chose to hike up and down the hill, good exercise but might be much during sunny hot days. There's even places to hire traditional costumes for a more immersive experience.

It is a really good place for sight seeing. Many houses seems to be empty, it is due to the migration of population for village to city. What I heard from one of the store owners is that young people love to stay in apartments hence they shift out from this place. Considering the fact that there is no entry ticket to this place and many houses empty, the people have really kept the place clean. The colors of houses are so prettily done that you can't take your eyes out of it. Many place are available for photographs and memory pictures. You can also find stores to buy souvenirs.

I thought this was going to be overrated. I was pleasantly surprised by my visit. The houses are beautiful and make for great pictures. The murals are plenty, and there are actually quite a few cafes and stores to visit. It's worth the effort imo. If you're fit or up for a challenge, then you can walk up to the village instead of catching the bus. There are also multiple observation points. There is a really cool store in the main shopping area where you can buy postcards and stamps and send them. It's a lovely and unique experience. The postcards are also beautiful.

Scenic place to visit.Lots of souvenirs shop. You can explore by climbing stairs (be prepared to climb a lot)Or walk on the main road which will eventually lead u to most attractions. If u feel energetic enough, feel free to go treasure hunt mode within this village.Best to be there in the morning, when the crowd is just arriving.Lots of photo spots to take pics.

We had a great time walking the village, all kinds of fun foods, shops, and photo opportunities. Lots of hills and stairs, so if you have mobility issues, be aware. The honeycomb ice cream, BTS murals, and the book stairs were my favorite spots. The most popular spot Is the Little Prince photo overlook. The lines get quite long by mid morning.

I visited here in 2023 Autumn. One of the main tourist spots in Busan. The colorful houses stacked along the hills create a breathtaking view. Exploring the narrow streets, filled with unique murals and art installations, is a delightful experience. It's a must-visit spot for photography and a unique cultural experience.

Very beautiful place, must visit when you are in Busan. Off at the bus stop, you can go in by the front of the attraction or the back (to left of bus stop then down a slope). From there, you can venture off the beaten track, and catch some great sights opposite from the main street, and also see some of the houses in the village. You can then attempt to explore up across the village to the main street. Completes the experience.

Amazing day! Just know up front, there’s lots of snack opportunities…would have like a couple more sit down eat places. But, understanding what the village is, no problem.Very unique heritage, and super clever way to show off the culture. Loved the stamp idea and the excellent t map to get us through the villiage. Be prepared to walk up and down the hills. Go with a curious mindset and you will have a great adventure!!

Beautiful place, a must visit if you're in Busan. You can take the bus to the entrance and there go to the information centre for a map. In the map you can check the most important places, and there's even a stamp collection to complete. Even if the whole area is on the hillside, the walk from the entrance is almost flat. You'll find many shops and cafes in the area. Please remember there's people living in the houses, respect the rules not to disturb them

Been here on the weekend, there were so many people. A bit cloudy at the beginning but finally it's clear and the wind a bit cooler. There's map on the information center but since we need to pay about ₩2.000 so we decided not to use it. We just walked around and took photos of the surrounding area. Many popular photo spot, so we have to queue. Be careful not to distrub people who live there. After such a heavy walk since there's so many stairs, we enjoyed some snack nearby which cost about ₩4.000 each.

Great place to visit. It was not that crowded early. We did run across a school class of teenagers dressed in full Korean traditional outfits that was very fun to see. We had a lot of fun walking the streets and seeing the art, searching for stamps and finding the occasional kitty cat lounging around. Don't forget to find the 148 stairs (stairs to see the stars) and climb up. 😉

Absolutely stunning!!! The views are incredible, the buildings look even better in real life than in the pictures. I didn’t know that was even possible 😂I definitely recommend going by yourself to try it out first before taking friends and older family. The climb up the stairs to the main touristy areas may be a challenge for older people. But other than that, this is probably one of the most interesting and amazing places I’ve been. There are many steps to get up to the stores and views, and the bus transportation to the village is a bit sketchy, but it is all worth it when you get there. There are lots of food options and touristy spots and stores around, as well as murals and photo areas.
Ella M — Google review
If you are looking for a nice cultural experience visit this place. There are nice views of the villages that have been revamped but the houses are built on the side of the mountain. There are shops and snacks lining the whole way with designated pic tire spots and nice artwork.

If you think you're doing something special or exploring a hidden gem, forget it! The main roads are overrun by cheap mass tourism. You still get your moments in the side alleys, but be respectful of the residents' privacy. Still a wonderful place to visit. Can't leave Busan without having seen it.

This is a residential area that was revitalized around 2009 to be full of art, craft shops, installations, murals, and cafes. You can spend half a day here just browsing cute shops and looking at art, plus enjoying the view into the harbor. Taking a bus here is BY FAR the cheapest option to reach here. Don't walk here from central Busan as it's a massive uphill climb. There is a stamp collection trail at some of the major points of interest in town. To collect the stamps easily, you'll need a map from the main information office which shows their locations. Otherwise you can mostly find them at places marked on public maps on display around town, or places shown on the wooden arrow road signs.

Really pretty village! I recommend buying a map at the tourist information center, it gives you a nice path to follow and you can play a little stamp game! A lot of very nice art to see. For a coffee definitely visit DUF across from the community center, VERY nice atmosphere and amazing iced drinks, you can also feed the ducks if you want! We went during the week and it was very calm. Definitely recommend taking the time to go here!

A really nice and pretty place with amazing colourful houses. There’s was quite a few souvenir shops and cafes. You can get the map for 2000won at the starting point to collect the stamps. Although it is a pretty long walk (took us over 2hrs), it is quite satisfying to be able to collect all the stamps.

Absolutely beautiful and fascinating. Just pack lightly and don't carry more than you need to, it's very crowded even on a Monday afternoon, and steep. I shouldn't have brought a heavy, bulky backpack.

A beautiful old village transformed into a tourist attraction. Worth to visit and spend a few hours here, recommended to come by bus or taxi, since it is quite a big steep up. Most of the houses are now tourists shops and small cafes with quite a history behind. It's a nice walk around the village, with quite a few very busy spots (you'll see the queue).

This village is worth the trip and spending time at!!! Lots of food, sit down and street vendors. Lots of art shops and little stores to buy unique items. Beautifully painted. HINT make your way to the top left of the village if facing up the mountain side. Great pictures looking over the village and south into another bay. Also a little Buddhist temple at the top. Its free no tickets

This is a colorful hillside village which is known for its narrow alleyways, brightly painted houses, and stunning views of the city all the way to the sea. It was originally built in the 1950s for refugees of the Korean War and in recent years, it has been transformed into an art district with so many visitors. I really enjoyed walking thru narrow alleys. Go there early if you prefer to avoid crowds.

So many opportunities for fun photos with striking scenic backgrounds, and amazing murals. Many tourists take advantage of the on-site costume rentals which adds to the fun. Food and beverage options are mostly of the bakery/cafe variety. There are some street food vendors including a guy that cooks food with a butane torch over a flame grill! Visually exciting and quite tasty. I highly recommend this place for a nifty half day outing.

Very colorful and beautiful village. We were here for about an hour ~ walking along the main road, unlike others tourist where i seen them walking into the neighbourhood houses area to explore the village.Small story ~ we met one kind elderly here whom took the initiative to offer help (even with language barrier) when he sees us struggling finding our way from Gamcheon Culture Village to Mipo and guided us half the journey (took the bus and make sure we go into the correct interchange bus!). Much appreciated 🙇♀️

Gamcheon-dong Cultural Village is really beautiful, and every corner is worthy of being photographed. If you want to come here, take the green bus directly to the top of the mountain. It is really far without having to walk up by yourself! The bus has a "gamcheon village" sticker on it, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. When the bus arrives, go straight to the right and see the arch at the door. Go in and you'll see the little prince. After seeing the little prince, take a photo and then go back and forth. Just walk in. In the direction, you can also visit some small shops with a very cultural atmosphere. Don't go down because there is nothing in front. You will only take the wrong path.I didn’t take any pictures because there were many people queuing up and one person was too embarrassed to ask for help. So I took a picture of the little prince in front of him. It’s the same thing:) Tip: Downloading naver maps is very useful.

Worth a visit for the views and the colorful houses. Don't miss the observatory, which is a little hidden but worth the steep climb up the steps - the views are stunning! Can be very crowded with other tourists, too. We took the local bus up because the hill walk to the village is quite arduous. Have small bills and change (or a transport card) at the ready .... the bus is on a schedule and means to keep to it!

Went around 3/4PM. The view was stunning, complimented by the sunset! Since most activities and stores were closing, we missed out on a lot of things. No worries, though. We still got our caricatures done, bought little gifts and souvenirs and ate some of the foods and desserts!Overall, it was a great time and great photo opportunities!

I'm truly speechless at the breathtaking views and sights at the Gamcheon Culture Village. For the best photo opportunities, I suggest visiting one of the local coffee shops; many offer rooftop access after purchasing a beverage. Otherwise, expect crowds elsewhere. Overall, it's a must-visit spot during your time in Busan. I can't recommend it enough!

Be ready to use your best shoes because if you want to go there by foot, you are gonna climb up some streets !But the view up there is totally worth it. There are a lot of shops along the way and plenty of different views of Busan, with the typical houses.Funny side, the Little Prince of St Exupéry is really liked in Korea and especially in Gamcheon.Totally recommended !

Gamcheon Culture Village is vibrant with colourful houses stacked along the hillside. It creates a unique landscape. We visited the place after 6pm and wandered through the narrow alleys. We saw a few art installations and a small shop with a beautiful entrance. We didn't feel it was crowded, considering we visited on a weekday and later in the evening.

Main streets are quite touristy but side alleys are really intimate.Gorgeous views and colourful buildings. If you like cats, The Little Prince, and street art, THIS IS FOR YOU.A lot of stairs and hills. Bring good walking shoes.Plenty of food vendors for street food and meals too.Plenty of public toilets around but watch out as some don't have toilet paper. This is a residential neighbourhood so please remember to be respectful - speak at low volumes and don't take invasive pictures of peoples homes.Went on a Tuesday around noon, not crowded at all.Spent about 2.5h here walking around, shopping, and visiting a cafe. There are maps around with pinned attractions. You can also buy a paper map at the entrance.

This is a fun place to visit and get a good workout!! Make sure to park in the parking garage. Many great photo ops ( a couple, you'llneedtowaiton line). There are winding little side alleys to shops and food, but some have people living there, so be respectful. Also, maybe do the research to find out what and why this village is.

I'm a fan of most all of Korea, and it's tough to only give this place three stars. But it's essentially a tourist trap in a beautiful little valley by the sea. The stairs and inclines are beautiful and interesting to photograph...but brutal to traverse. Go, take your pics...try to catch the bus at the top of the hill.

It is a pretty village located on top of hills overlooking Busan city, decorated with Korean culture icons and K-pop idols’ murals and characters throughout the main street area of this hilly village. There are lots of shops, cafes, and Instagram picture spots for fans of Korean culture and tourists. Locals have been living in this area for years, and signs ask tourists to reduce noise and not to trash the area while visiting this place.

Nice tour and walking area. Also good local food around the main street area that are reasonably priced. Little prince photo taking may have a long queue but you can see other attractions. Recommend to buy the map for ease of walk with 20,000 won

There's a trail where you can buy a map and collect stamps from all over Gamcheon village. And there's also a spot where you can get a ball that contains a note about your luck/fortune/future (do note that it is in korean), which is decided based on your zodiac sign. You don't have to worry about food or drinks because there are plenty of cafes and shops selling food. Plus, there are a lot of shops that sell unique handicrafts from Korea, so you can check them out too! This is an amazing first-time experience here, I'd recommend it!

Worth the walk uphill. We took a train there and used Coffee It House (it is a cafe) as our final destination. Naver map brought us up an alley which is a set of stairs which we initially found strange but it was a shortcut! 😆 If you have knee issues, I do not recommend it as the stairs are quite steep in certain areas. Of course there are other transport options like bus and taxi as well. The village itself has many different areas to view the village from different angles. Some popular photo spots will require you to queue up.Do be mindful that people live in this village so please respect their privacy and space. When you’re around people’s home, please be mindful of your volume.

Gamcheon Culture Village was one of the sweetest parts of our trip to Busan. The colorful painted houses, charming little shops, and breathtaking views made us lose track of time as we explored. It's one of those places I’d love to visit again and again.

Very beautiful village. It is quite colorful and has plenty of cafes. Getting there is easier than what Google shows so make sure not to do the mistake and walk as it is quite hilly and if it is warm outside you’ll get there quite sweaty.

Beautiful place, I highly recommend picking up the stamp tour map for 2000 won at the tourist center as it provides you a route to see all the hidden gems in the town. The route was not difficult at all to go through. I spent around 3 hours there in total. Don't miss the photo deck on the 4th floor of the community center.

Such an awesome cultural village conveniently located close to public transport. There is a lot of walking and tons of steps when you go but it is so worth it. You can come here for an hour or get lost in the back streets for half a day. There's heaps of culture and art and an interesting history with the village being a former refugee camp. I'd recommend paying the small fee to get the stamp collection map as it has a good route you can follow.

Probably the best cultural village I've seen in my life! It's a marvel of an urban regeneration project for an Asian country, and speaks volumes of the care and consideration given by planners and the local community to make this settlement a world class cultural phenomenon!

Beautiful place, and the history is deep. It was awesome to get a chance to visit an iconic place in South Korea. Many places you see only on TV, magazines and the internet but to actually visit this place was amazing. I highly recommend this place. It wasn't as busy as it usually gets, so we were really lucky. We got some cool t-shirts for souvenirs as well. They were about $12 a shirt. It is very hilly, so expect to walk and climb a lot.

Beautiful little hillside village located outside of Busan. I visited twice, and walked around extensively. The main road loop is very crowded with tourists and all things related. Better to walk and climb through the maze of stairs and alleys to see the hidden gems and street art. I travel the world full time, and this place is a little gem.

Really fun way to spend a day! Pretty easy to get to, catch a train to Toseong station, exit via exit number 6 and catch one of the green buses to the top of the hill. The bus goes past 3 of the entrances/exits, we actually got off a little early and ended up walking up more to the proper entrance (pic attached). There’s a strip of cute stalls and food shops all along the entrance, make sure you grab a map at the information center! This helped us find our way. We did route B. Was a very fun day.

Get to the top of the village by taxi for sure. Walking up would be a big struggle. I appreciated the colorful houses surrounded by mountains and sea. While I was disappointed with same old shops on the street, if you walk inside the alley outside the main street, you run into other fun stuff, such as artworks in a room.

The views from Gamcheon Culture Village (the "Machu Picchu and Santorini of Korea") really are outstanding. It's no wonder why they're the source of inspiration for their many gift painters. The family-owned restaurants, cafes, shops, art studios, and beautifully colorful homes (be quiet and respectful as you walk by) make the village a wonderfully friendly place to visit.Cafe Wooin (labeled as Cafe Roof Top on the outside) was our favorite place to get coffee, tea, a bite to eat, and a massive view of the village.Try visiting earlier in the day, and start by taking a taxi to the top of the village. This will give you lots of time to enjoy the walk down before more people arrive. While the village is gorgeous and full of art and history, it is where many people live, so please be kind, quiet, and respectful when near neighborhoods and homes.

Gamcheon Cultural Village in Busan is often referred to as the "Machu Picchu of Busan" or the "Santorini of Korea" due to its colorful houses, steep hills, and scenic views. It is a popular destination for tourists who enjoy exploring art, culture, and unique urban landscapes. Originally a humble village, it has been transformed into an artistic hub filled with murals, sculptures, and art installations. The village is spread across a hillside, so be prepared for a lot of walking, including climbing steep stairs and navigating narrow alleyways. Comfortable shoes are a must. Many of the alleyways are adorned with street art, and you'll find small galleries, cafes, and local shops selling handmade crafts along the way. Some parts of the village are still residential, so visitors are encouraged to be respectful of the local community by keeping noise levels down and not intruding on private homes. For those interested in learning more about the village's history and culture, there is a Gamcheon Village Culture House and various guided tour options. You can also pick up a map at the entrance, which highlights points of interest and art installations. There are also designated photo spots throughout the village, making it a great location for taking memorable pictures. However, because it’s a popular tourist destination, it can get crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. The village is relatively easy to access via public transport. From Busan Station, you can take a bus or taxi to get there.

This colourful village is really beautiful. Very enjoyable to walk around in day time, we managed to covered the whole area shown in the map. Worth it, a lot of alleys are a hidden gem to take photos and explores. There’s also a traditional market inside which I find it really amusing and hidden. Lots of eateries and cafes in the village. Souvenirs/gift shops are all around as well.
